Overview

Thigh lift is a surgery that addresses skin folds and sagging that accumulate on the inner legs, especially after weight change. In cases where skin quality deteriorates, liposuction alone may not provide sufficient recovery. The incision may be limited to the groin crease or extend down the inner side of the leg, depending on the degree of sagging. For this reason, choosing a technique based on scar length alone does not create the right expectation. Friction while walking, clothing fit, and discomfort in skin folds may be among the patient's priorities. In planning, the mobile structure of the leg, the tension on the wound and the accompanying looseness around the hip are taken into account.

What is evaluated?

  • Assessment of whether the sagging is mainly on the inner, outer or back of the thighs.
  • Groin folds, skin irritation and weight stability are evaluated.
  • Circulatory problems, history of clots and limitation of movement are questioned.

Approach and options

  • In cases of limited upper inner thigh excess, an approach focusing on the groin area may be considered.
  • For extensive inner thigh sagging, a longer vertical incision may be required.
  • Liposuction or body lift may be added depending on excess fat or lower body sagging.

Recovery and follow-up

Tension may be felt around the incision while walking and sitting. It is important to protect the groin area from moisture and friction and to follow the dressing. Support clothing and movement plan are tailored to the individual. Long walks, sports and returning to work are done gradually by checking the closure status of the wound.

Risks and limits

  • Wound separation in the groin or thigh
  • Seroma, infection and prolonged swelling
  • Scar widening or displacement
  • Asymmetry, sensory changes and clot complications

The headings here do not cover all risks. Possible benefits, alternatives and personal risks should be discussed in detail during the examination.

You can ask in the consultation

  • Does a scar limited to the groin provide sufficient correction?
  • To what extent can my friction complaint while walking change?
  • What should I pay particular attention to when caring for wounds in this area?
