Overview

Liposuction aims to regulate body lines by changing the fat distribution in areas such as the abdomen, waist, hips, thighs or arms. One of the important factors that determine the result is the skin's ability to adapt itself to the new volume. In cases of significant skin laxity, removing fat alone may not sufficiently correct the sagging; Surgery to remove the skin may also be considered. The amount of fat to be removed is not determined solely by aesthetic expectations; General health, width of processing areas and safety limits are considered together. Weight changes and aging can subsequently alter body shape. Using different devices does not mean that it will provide better results for everyone.

What is evaluated?

  • Fat distribution, skin elasticity and existing depressions are evaluated together.
  • Discussion of weight changes over time, smoking, medications and a history of blood clots.
  • In one session, the areas to be addressed and the need for additional skin tightening are discussed.

Approach and options

  • Classical aspiration and energy-assisted methods in suitable patients are among the options.
  • For significant excess skin, liposuction and lifting surgery can be planned together or in stages.
  • If the weight loss goal is dominant, sustainable weight management may be the priority.

Recovery and follow-up

Bruising, edema, and temporary tenderness can be expected; The body line is evaluated as the swelling decreases. Corset use, wound care and movement plan are arranged according to the procedure area. Return to work and exercise depends on the individual's workload as well as the extent of fat removed; Control examinations should not be interrupted.

Risks and limits

  • Ripple, depression or asymmetry
  • Seroma, bleeding and infection
  • Change in sensation or persistent laxity
  • Rare but serious complications of clots and embolism

The headings here do not cover all risks. Possible benefits, alternatives and personal risks should be discussed in detail during the examination.

You can ask in the consultation

  • Will my skin be able to tighten sufficiently after fat removal?
  • Which areas are appropriate for me to address in the same session?
  • What will the plan be for a compression garment and returning to work?
